Gold Hill

Shaftesbury is a city in the north of Dorset, England. The city is about 200 meters above sea level. In 2001, the city had 6665 inhabitants with 3112 households. From 1001 to the Reformation, it bore the name of Edwardstowe, as the bones of Edward the martyr were in Shaftesbury Abbey.

The city is located over the Blackmore Valley and a little over the river Stour. Glastonbury Tor and the Isle of Purbeck can be seen from various viewpoints.
