Serventesio

The servantsio is a Castilian stanza composed of four verses of major art, usually endecasílabos, rhyme consonant and alternating ABAB. Its name comes from the Provençal, since in the trovadoresca lírica used this strophe for the satirical composition denominated sirventés.

The servantsio is not usually used in isolation in poetic compositions, but combined with other stanzas: for example, in some cases, the servants are used to make the sonnet.

A variant of the servantsio combines the endecasílabos verses with heptasílabos. On the other hand, the poet Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer used servants with astonishing rhyme, instead of consonant, called asonant servants.
