Rio Grande (Ica)


Rio Grande is a river of Peru, one of the four that, from north to south, descend in parallel form and form the water network of the department of Ica. These are the San Juan or Chincha River, the Pisco River, the Ica River and the Rio Grande, all belonging to the Pacific slope. Hydrology

The hydrographic system of the Rio Grande is fed by the seasonal precipitation of the upper part of the basin, which causes water to flow intermittently between the months of January and April.

It originates 9 streams: Santa Cruz, Yanahuanca, Condorchaca, Pacoya, Palma, Vizcas (that receives contributions of the river OcoƱa), Otaca and Nasca.

The Grande River basin has a length of 153 km and a width of 98 m, occupying 10,722 km2 of which 4,482 km2 are located above 2,500 m and correspond to the wet basin.
