The Sandpipers was an American folk / pop band.
Edit HistoryQual
All members came from Mitchell Boys Coir from Los Angeles. At the beginning of the 1960s, they formed the band The Grads and recorded several records, but they were all unsuccessful. Then they were contracted by Herb Alpert, and in the middle of 1966 they had their biggest hit with their version of the Cuban song Guantanamera. Hal Blaine accompanied the band on drums.
Another hit was the trio 1970 with the song Come Saturday Morning, which they recorded for the feature film The Sterile Cuckoo with Liza Minnelli. Although there was no longer a huge succession of charter boats, the band still filled large concert halls throughout America for many years.
