The 2003 Bavarian elections were held on 21 September 2003 in the German state of Bavaria to elect the deputies of the state parliament (Landtag). The above were held on 13 September 1998 and the following were held in 2008. Result of the election

Bavaria is the federal state in which the center-right in Germany usually triumphs (the center-right party there is the CSU). The CSU garnered more than 60% of the vote (the second best result ever, the best still being 1974, even though it won every election since the end of World War II). The Social Democrats (SPD) plummeted (from 28.7% achieved in the previous elections, held in 1998 to 19.6%).

The greens continued to rise.

The Liberals improved (for the first time since 1990) but it was not worth them to reappear in parliament.
