Girolamo Bellarmato

Girolamo Bellarmato or Girolamo Bellarmati (Siena, 24 August 1493 - Chalon-sur-Saône, April 28, 1555) was an Italian architect, engineer and cartographer.

He studied in Urbino and taught mathematics in various Italian cities. In 1536, in Rome published the first edition of an exceptional map of the region of Tuscany, the Cartographia Tusciae.

Its activity was particularly developed in France and Piedmont. In France he designed the citadel of Châlon-sur-Saône in Burgundy and, in 1547, designed the first urban plan of Le Havre (Normandy).
