Anales de Roscrea

Annals of Roscrea (Latin: Annales Roscreensis) are medieval chronicles written in Irish Gaelic and Latin, initiated by a Franciscan friar, Brendan O'Conor, in two parts and finalized by another friar Thomas O'Sheerin in a third part , both of the monastery of the same name, north of the county of Tipperary towards the seventeenth century. The annals deal with the history of the diocese of Killaloe, where Roscrea was the political and ecclesiastical center of the region. They are not popular chronicles among historians who consider them of limited importance but complete some information lacking of other chronicles, as the annals of Clonmacnoise. There is only one copy of the work deposited in Brussels, classified as MS 5301-5320 and is part of the collection of the Royal Library of Belgium. Bibliography
