Abbir Maio

Abbir Maius is the name of an ancient city situated in the Roman province of Africa proconsularis (today Henchir el-Kandaq, northern Tunisia). The city was probably a Carthage-dependent Civitas. It had an aqueduct that was finished by Procurator Q. Geminus Faustus. Under Caracalla she became an Aurelium Antoninianum Municipality.

The town was Bischofsitz, which was assigned to the church province of Carthage. The Titular Bishopric Abbir Maius goes back to the Bishop's Seat. Edit source text
