Rocco Carbone (Reggio Calabria, February 20, 1962 - Rome, July 18, 2008) was an Italian writer. Originally from Cosoleto (Reggio Calabria) he graduated in Literature at the University of Rome "La Sapienza", with a thesis on I Malavoglia, by Giovanni Verga, and obtained a doctorate from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne.

He devoted himself to literary criticism and, after the age of thirty, to narrative. In 1993 he wrote his first novel, August. He collaborated with the Italian newspapers La Republica, La Unidad and Il Messaggero.

He died in Rome in an automobile accident with his motorcycle on the night between 18 July 2008. Work
