Metropolitan Police of Cúcuta


The Metropolitan Police of San José de Cúcuta is a deconcentrated unit of Police Region Number Five, Eastern; which depends on the Directorate of Citizen Security (DISEC) of the General Directorate of the Colombian National Police. It is the authority that exercises the police service, in the Colombian city of Cúcuta. It provides the permanent surveillance that the state provides to maintain public order. It was promoted by Maria Eugenia Riascos and approved by the General Director of the National Police, Major General Óscar Adolfo Naranjo Trujillo. It began operations on December 10, 2008.

In total, the National Police has 3,883 police in Norte de Santander: 1,844 for the Metropolitan Police and 2,039 for the rest of the department.
