Euvarroa swinger

Euvarroa wongsirii is a mite that causes ectoparasitosis in the bee species Apis andreniformis. The mite was described in 1991 by Lekprayoon and Tangkanasing, who differentiated this Euvarroa from the species Euvarroa sinhai that attacks Apis florea. The species was dedicated to Prof. Dr. Siriwat Wongsiri, who works at the Bee Research Unit of Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. [1]

Both species differ because Euvarroa wonsirii has a more arrow shape than Euvarroa, which is more oblong. There are authors who treat the genus Euvarroa as Varroa. Bibliography
