Life is Real (Song for Lennon)

Life is Real is a song made by British rock band Queen as part of his 1982 Hot Space album. Freddie Mercury composed the song as a tribute to John Lennon, the former Beatle who had been killed in 1980 and this made the band perform Imagine during their live performances. Like most of Lennon's songs, Life is Real is based on the piano giving a feeling of melancholy and encompassing the sadness of the band by the death of John Lennon. This is one of Queen's few songs in which the lyrics of the song were written before the music (as was previously the case with Killer Queen). The title of the song refers to the lyrics of the song Love in which a phrase says "Love is Real" from there is "Life is Real."
