Building Unión Ferroviaria

The Unión Ferroviaria Building is the seat of the union of the same name. It is located in Avenida Independencia 2880 (Buenos Aires), was inaugurated in 1933 and for years was also headquarters of the General Confederation of Labor. Also in this building, until 1968, the Cine-Theater Union, reopened in 2010 as Centro Cultural Unión.

The Union of Railways is one of the most notable examples of art deco architecture in Buenos Aires. Curiously, it shares the style with the headquarters of the other great Argentine railway union, La Fraternidad. On October 1, 1933, the Cine-Teatro Unión, run by the union itself, began to operate there. Until the inauguration of the own building of the CGT (year 1950), in Azopardo 820, the workers' center shared a sector of the building with the Unión Ferroviaria. The cinema survived until its closure in 1968. The 13 of May of 2010, was reopened with the name of Cultural Center Union.
