Archaeological Museum of Jordan

The Archaeological Museum of Jordan (Arabic: متحف الآثار الأردني) is a museum on the hill of the Citadel in Amman, Jordan, built in 1951. It features artefacts from Jordan's archaeological sites, dating from prehistory to 15th century. The collections are presented in chronological order and include elements of everyday life, such as flint, glass, metal and ceramic objects, as well as more artistic elements such as jewels and statues. The museum also includes a collection of coins. The space houses the statues of Ain Ghazal, which are the oldest statues that have been made by some human civilization, and which are considered some of the most important artifacts in human history. The museum also houses some of the Dead Sea Scrolls, as well as the only copper roll of the Dead Sea.
