Torres Lighthouse


Torres Lighthouse. The Torres Lighthouse (in Asturian, Faru de Torres) is located in the Campa del Cabo de Torres, council of Gijón, Principality of Asturias, (Spain), in an area of ​​great archaeological wealth, where remains have been found of an important Roman settlement, Castro de Noega. It depends on the Port Authority of Gijón.

In operation since 1924 and electrified in 1936, it happened to the old lighthouse of Gijón, which was suppressed in 1912.

The building has a rectangular floor plan with two floors and a large terrace at the top. The tower is octagonal and is embedded in the north face of the building. The height above sea level is 82 meters and 12 meters above the ground. It is built almost at the edge of the cliff. Its range is 18 nautical miles and its coordinates are: 43º 34,307 N and 05º 41,948 W.
