A police rod is a flexible scraper or spatula, usually made of natural rubber, attached to a glass rod used in chemical laboratories to transfer solid waste from a precipitate or on glass surfaces when performed a gravimetric analysis Police rods are also made in one-piece versions of flexible plastic, such as Teflon, polyethylene or polypropylene, they are not the same as rubber scrapers.

Police rods are also used in biological laboratories, for the transfer of tissue culture cells from a plate to a suspension for, for example, cell division or preparation of cell lysates.
