Massacre of the Barge

The massacre of La Gabarra was a massacre that occurred on the night of August 21, 1999 in the township of La Gabarra, near the municipality of Tibú, Norte de Santander, near the border with Venezuela. It was perpetrated by members of the paramilitary group Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia - AUC against suspected collaborators of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) guerrilla. Between 35 and 43 people were massacred.
