The long house of the originally late-Gothic church was redesigned in Baroque style in 1708. The 1727 baroque tower carries a lantern.
The interior was decorated in rococo style in 1756. The high altar was especially designed. It is a work of Hengersberger artist Benedikt Schreiter. On the altar there is a picture of the grace, a Madonna with the Jesus child. The 1.50 m wooden figure was created around 1480.
In 1884 a re-Romanesque revision took place. As early as 1913, however, the rococo style was reconstructed. It is from this period that Jacques Dasbourg's paintings come from. Edit this page
The church was a much-visited place of pilgrimage in the 18th century. Miracle books tell you many prayers and a crowd of 15,000 pilgrims a year. The aim of the pilgrimage was the gothic image of grace. Weblinks Edit sourcetext Commons: MariƤ Immaculate Conception (Kirchdorf im Wald) - collection of pictures, videos and audio files
