Maria do Carmo Silveira


Maria do Carmo Trovoada Pires de Carvalho Silveira (born 1960) was Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of São Tomé and Príncipe from June 8, 2005 until April 21, 2006.

She also served as governor of the Central Bank of Sao Tome and Principe from 1999 to 2005.

Silveira, the second woman to hold the position of Prime Minister of the country, is a member of the Movement for the Liberation of São Tomé and Príncipe (MLSTP-PSD). His term as Prime Minister ended after the 2006 parliamentary elections held in the country, when the opposition defeated the MLSTP-PSD.
