The Dorperschaf is a South African herring breed that was bred in the 1930s from the Dorset Horn and the Blackhead Persian (see Somaliashaf).

The Dorperschaf got its name from the initial letters of the two outlying terraces (Dorset Horn and Blackhead Persian). The aim was to breed a breed adapted to the arid climate of the region.
