Threading tap

M20 dock and coupling

A tapping thread (also called a threaded bearing) is a manual cutting tool that is used for the manual threading of bolts and screws, which must be calibrated according to the thread characteristic in question. The material of the dies is made of high-speed steel (HSS). The main characteristics of a screw to be threaded are the outside or nominal diameter thereof and the thread pitch.

It is also used to make pipe threads to build conduits, for example for water. These pipes can be of various materials such as iron, bronze, copper, pvc (polyvinyl chloride), and so on. According to the consistency of the element to be threaded, it should be the hardness of the material with which the taper is made. Bibliography
