Fernando Ávalos (Governor)

Fernando Ávalos was a lawyer, president of the Superior Court of Justice and governor of the State of Queretaro for only 5 hours on December 15, 1923.

Governor Francisco Ramirez Luque was unleashed by the state legislature on that date and Fernando Ávalos was appointed provisional governor for being president of the state's judiciary. He occupied the position only 5 hours, with the only mission to decree the appointment of interim governor to Joaquin de la Peña, military commander of Querétaro.

Fernando Ávalos holds the record as the person who has been governor of Querétaro for the shortest time (the second is Luis G. Lanchazo with 13 hours). Although José B. Alcocer was governor for only 3 hours in 1929, this makes the government shorter, but not the person with less time in power since he was governor for the second time during 24 hours in 1930.
