Case fatality rate

The death rate is the proportion of people who die from a disease among those affected by it in a given period and area. It is an indicator of the virulence or severity of a disease.

It is difficult to perform because it is necessary to register all the patients with this disease and in many diseases asymptomatic or mild cases are not declared.

Formula: L & # x0025; = F E & # x2217; 100 {\displaystyle L\%={F \over E}*100}

It is different from the mortality rate in which the proportion of deaths by one or more diseases among a general population in a period, which may or may not be affected by the disease, is therefore easier to establish. If it is for a cause it is the specific mortality rate and if it is for all causes it is the gross mortality rate. Bibliography
