Atlantic Cinema

The Atlantic Cinema (in Portuguese: Cinema Atlântico before the Cinema Imperio or Cinema Império) is a performance hall of the city of Luanda, the capital of the African country of Angola. It was designed by the architect Eduardo Paulino. The stability calculations are by the engineer Henrique Jorge Pedreira da Silva. He also had the collaboration of sculptors like António Vidigal, Miranda and Zink.

The Cine-Atlântico, was initially intended to be built in the Bay of Luanda, with part on the water, but this was not allowed; was then in the center of Luanda. It is an open-air theater, with a capacity for 1500 spectators.

It is not known with certainty if the work was finished in 1962 or 1964, more if it is known that it was inaugurated in 1966 with the film "My Fair Lady".
