A luminous giant star is a class II luminance star in the MKK classification. They are stars whose characteristics are intermediate between those of a giant star and those of a supergiant star. In general, giant stars with a particularly high luminosity are included in this group, although they are not so bright or massive as to be classified as supergiant. Examples
