Cobaltocalcita


Cobaltocalcite is a variety of mineral group 05 (carbonates) according to Strunz classification, although it is not recognized as a mineral valid by the IMA, which considers a variety of calcite containing cobalt. The mineral that is recognized as valid in the spherocobaltite, cobaltocalcite being a variety of it with impurities of calcium. Applications

Transparent to translucent, it is used for making gems, although it is a rare mineral. One of the main mines, currently out of operation, is located in Peramea.
