Josep or José Finestres and Monsalvo or Monsalvo (Barcelona, ​​April 5, 1688 - Cervera, 17 November 1777), was a prestigious Spanish jurist and historian.

Formed in the Jesuits of Barcelona, ​​he began his law studies in the same city, obtaining his doctorate at the University of Cervera in 1715. In the same year, he accepted a chair, where he remained until his retirement. He was also a scholar of Ancient History, especially in Rome and Greece. He owes a very complete work on Roman epigraphy in Catalonia entitled Sylloge inscriptionum Cathaloniae. His interest in Ancient Greece, favored the creation of the first printing press in Barcelona with a Greek character, which allowed the first editions in this language of the classics. He was one of the first members of the Royal Academy of Good Letters of Barcelona.
