Ikoma Chikamasa


Ikoma Chikamasa. This is a Japanese name; the surname is {{{1}}}.

Ikoma Chikamasa (生 駒 親 正, Ikoma Chikamasa 1526 - 25 March 1603) was a samurai and daimyo during the Azuchi-Momoyama period until the Edo period of Japanese history. His father was Ikoma Chikashige.

In 1566 he became a vassal of Oda Nobunaga when he attacked the Province of Mino. Later it served under the orders of Toyotomi Hideyoshi with whom it participated in several battles like the one of Nagashino, Yamazaki, Shizugatake, among others. He participated actively during the Japanese invasions of Korea. During the Battle of Sekigahara he joined the forces of Ishida Mitsunari against the troops of Tokugawa Ieyasu. After the defeat of the army of Ishida and thanks to that his son Kazumasa had fought with Tokugawa, the clan could maintain the fief although Chikimasa had to leave the leadership of the clan.

Chikimasa became a priest and retired to Mount Koya.

He died in 1603 at Takamatsu Castle.
