Gigen


Gigen (in Bulgarian Гиген) is a city in northern Bulgaria, part of the Province of Pleven. It is located next to the Danube, and ends at the place where the river Iskar flows into it, opposite the Romanian city of Corabia.

Gigen is very famous for being built on the site of the important Roman colony of Oescus. the extensive ruins are located in the northwestern part of the city. It was the first that joined the old coloniathe at the end of the seventeenth century.
