The Höninger protection letters are two important documents of Pope Innocent II and of Emperor Friedrich I. (Barbarossa) from the years 1143 and 1160 respectively. They refer to the Augustinian founded around 1120 by the Leininger Count Emich II (Leiningen) Chorhoferstift Höningen and guaranteed the monastery (also called Hagenehe) protection for residents and property.
