Margaret of Scotland (Queen of Norway)

Margaret of Scotland (Windsor, England, February 28, 1261 - Tønsberg, Norway, April 9, 1283). Queen of Norway, consort of King Erico II.

Born in Windsor Castle. She was the daughter of Alexander III of Scotland and Margaret of England. It was given as a wife in 1281 to Erico II of Norway, following the Treaty of Perth between Scotland and Norway.

She died in the town of Tønsberg in 1283, presumably shortly after giving birth to her only daughter, Princess Margaret. The exact date of her death is discussed: Gesta Annalia places her on 9 April, while the Chronicle of Lanercost indicates that it happened between the 27 and the 28 of February. It was buried in the old cathedral of Bergen.
