Andrée-Insel

The Andrée Island is an island off the west coast of Antarctic Grahamland. It is located in the Recess Cove, a sub-bay of Charlotte Bay.

The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey mapped the island by means of aerial photographs taken by the British Hunting Aerosurveys Ltd. between 1956 and 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1960 after the Swedish polar explorer Salomon August Andrée (1857-1897), who was killed while trying to reach the geographic North Pole with the balloon.
