Princes Street


Princes Street receives its name ("street of the princes") in honor to the two children of the king Jorge III: the Duke of Rothesay and Frederick August of Hannover. It is one of the main streets of Edinburgh, next to the Royal Mile. It is located in New Town, parallel to George Street and Princes Street Gardens. It is about 1 mile (about a mile). Princes Street is cut almost all the way to private vehicles (except bicycles). It is well-traveled by the public transport, there is a great variety of bus lines, taxis pass through this street and the Edimburgh Trams (Edinburgh Tram) is being built.
