Robert Sturdy




Robert Sturdy (born 22 June 1944 in Wetherby, West Yorkshire) is a British politician of the Conservative Party. Edit LifeQualtext

Sturdy attended Ashville College in Harrogate and learned accounting there. He then farmed the estate of the family. He is a hobby beekeeper and vice president of the Cambridgeshire Beekeepers Association. His son Julian Sturdy also became a politician and took over the paternal court.

Sturdy has been a Conservative MP in the European Parliament since 1994, for Cambridge and Bedfordshire North in 1994-1999, and then for the Eastern Region in Yorkshire. He is a member of the committee on foot-and-mouth disease. He is also a member of the Royal Society for Bird Protection and Treasurer of the Land Use and Food Policy Intergroup.
