Paulus Æmilius Verona


Paulus Aemilius Veronensis (Italian: Paolo Emilio da Verona) (Verona, c., 1455 - Paris, May 5, 1529) was an Italian historian.

Born in Verona, his fame as a historian came to France, where he traveled guest around the year 1499, during the reign of Charles VIII, to write the history of the French kings. There it obtained a canonjía in the Cathedral of Notre Dame of Paris. Paulus enjoyed the patronage and support of Louis XII. He died in Paris on May 5, 1529 before he could finish the commission. His work, De Rebus gestis Francorum, was translated into French in 1582, as well as Italian and German.
