Bridge House

The Bridge House is a building on the Scottish Hebrides Islay Island. It is located about 50 m west of the A846 in a loop of the river Laggan. Bowmore, the main town of the island, is about 2.5 km north and is the closest larger town. On July 20, 1971, Bridgehouse was recorded as part of an ensemble in the Scottish Monumentalists in Category B. Since 2006, it has been listed as a single monument in category C.

In Bridgehouse there was a restaurant. Afterwards, the rooms were used as a school building. Directly west of Bridgehouse, the Laggan Bridge is also a protected monument over the Laggan. Edit source text

The exact date of construction is not surpassed, so that only the early 19th century can be given as a construction period. The one-storey building corresponds to the traditional architecture. It ends with a saddle roof. The attic has been extended to the mansard and equipped with dormers. To the east is a lower slope with saddle roof. The entrance area is located in a small porch, crowned by a hipped roof. All roofs are covered with slate shingles and the facades are plastered in the traditional Harling technique.
