After the war, Hubrich was ordained a priest for the archbishopric Paderborn on 27 June 1948. On 5 December 1975 Pope Paul VI appointed to the Auxiliary Bishop in the Apostolic Administration Magdeburg with the titular seat Auca. On 7 January 1976 he was consecrated by Bishop Johannes Braun. Finally, on November 23, 1987, Hubrich was elevated to the Apostolic Administrator in the Apostolic Administration of Schwerin and solemnly installed on 9 January 1988. In this office Hubrich died.
