Stephen events

Gesta Stephani or Deeds of King Stephen or Acts of Stephen is a chronicle of the mid-twelfth-century England story written by an anonymous author, who focuses on King Stephen and his struggles with his cousin Matilde, also known like the Empress Maud. It is one of the main sources for this period of history. Some historians believe that the author may have been Robert of Bath, bishop of Bath from 1136 to 1166. Gesta Stephani was first published in Paris in 1619, from a manuscript of the Laon Episcopal Library which subsequently lost. A complete manuscript was recently found, and later published, in the Municipal Library of Valenciennes, which was transferred from the nearby abbey of Vicoigne. The Latin text counts in 120 chapters the anarchy during the reign of Esteban and ends with the ascent to the throne of Enrique II.
