Schwarzeis

Blackis on a river in Holland.

Schwarzeis is largely free of air bubbles, very compact and comparatively load-bearing ice. It is very transparent and appears in the color of its subsoil, often wet asphalt or dark waters. Black ice is formed by freezing the surface on standing or slow flowing waters. It can also be formed on solid surfaces by the addition of supercooled droplets (see Klareis).

As it is difficult to see, it is a danger in the form of winter smoothness in the road and in the sea. Blackis in the sea Edit the navigation text

Schwarzeis is a threat to trawlers who use fishing trawls in cold waters with trawls. In a combination of air temperatures below the freezing point and rough sea, where sea water is swept all over the ship, very thick layers of black ice are formed very quickly. If ice builds on the superstructures of a ship, the ship can become copflough. This can lead to capsizing in heavy seas.
