Eduardo Ruiz Asmussen, Chilean diplomat, current Ambassador of Chile to Indonesia (2014-). Biography

In 1974 he graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Chile and the Diplomatic Academy of Chile "Andrés Bello", in which he developed teaching duties in the Chair of International Relations.

He studied specialization in International Politics at the Javeriana University (Bogotá, Colombia) and International Economics at UNITAR (United Nations, Geneva, Switzerland).

During his career as a member of the Foreign Service, he has served in the Chilean Mission to International Organizations based in Geneva (1984-1986), as well as in the Embassies of Chile to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy (1975-1977), Brazil (1978-1979), Colombia (1982-1984) and Argentina (1989-1991), and at the Consulates General of Chile in Cordoba (1992-1993), Paris (1996-2001) and Sydney (2002-2007).

In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he has served in the Human Resources and Planning Directorates; as Deputy Director of the Americas Bilateral Policy; Deputy Director of Ceremonial and Protocol (1994-1996); Acting Director and Head of the United Nations Department of the Directorate of Multilateral Economic Affairs (1987-1988); Deputy Director of European Affairs (2001-2002) and Deputy Director of the Middle East and Africa Directorate (2008-2010).

Also during his diplomatic career, he has been a member of the Chilean Delegation at various international meetings in the framework of the United Nations, the Cartagena Consensus, the Latin American Economic System (SELA) and the Economic Commission for Latin America ECLAC) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), among others.

He has received decorations from Brazil, Croatia, Ukraine, Italy, France and Poland.
