Faun (Greek Φάων) is a mythical character associated with the goddess Aphrodite. It was, it seems, a mortal of great beauty who fell in love with all women and also the goddess. However, he did not respond to any, was immune to the demands of all of them.

Other sources point out that it was a boatman who took the goddess Aphrodite without knowing it in her boat without asking for anything in return. In gratitude, the goddess gave her the unparalleled beauty that she later enjoyed.
