Mountain fodder

The brown mountain is a Spanish vaccine breed created from the crossing of the alpine brown breed with various native Spanish breeds (Leonese butter, Asturian mountain and Pyrenean, among others). Currently, it is located in: Aragon, Navarre, La Rioja, Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla y León and Madrid.

It is a pure breed of meat, which is usually raised in a valley-port system. In autumn and spring the animals are loose grazing day and night and with the arrival of winter they are collected to supplement them with straw, hay and feed, in summer they climb to the mountain ports to take advantage of the mountain pastures.

The calves remain with the mothers for a few months (4-6) and are weaned to take them to the feed until twelve months.
