Formula Opel
The Opel Formula is a racing class for Monoposto racing cars.
It was created by the automaker Opel in 1988 as a brand cup for the promotion of the next generation. The drivers started with uniform vehicles with 2-liter engines from Opel, which produced 117 kW (160 hp) and aerodynamic tools such as front and rear spoilers. The vehicles had a uniform weight of 465 kg and were initially developed and built by Reynard Motorsport. From 1992 took over this task Schübel Motorsport in Germany.
Participation in the series was relatively cheap, but more expensive than the Formula Ford, Formula Junior or Formula King, compared to other racing series. The formula Opel was considered as a link to or replacement for Formula 3.
It was also difficult, as a novice, to tune and control the complicated device. Therefore previous experience was valuable in a smaller branding.
Dangers have been in several national series in Germany, UK, Ireland and the BeNeLux countries as well as in the Formula Opel Euroseries. In the UK, this class was used as a Formula Vauxhall. Single-level Edit source text
