Taizō Yokoyama
Taizō Yokoyama (jap. 横山 泰 三, Yokoyama Taizō, born February 28, 1917 in Kōchi Prefecture, Japan, † June 10, 2007 in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan) was a Japanese cartoonist and cartoonist
His career as a professional artist started Yokoyama in the post-war period, influenced by his older brother Ryūichi, who was also a comic artist
In 1950 he landed his first success with the comic strip series Pūsan (プ ー サ ン), which he created for the newspaper Mainichi Shimbun. For Pūsan, he received the Kikuchi Kan Prize in 1954. Kon Ichikawa converted Yokoyama's stories around Pūsan in 1953 as a real movie. In 1954 the artist began his cartoon series Shakai Gihyō (社会 戯 評). For 39 years, until 1992, he drew over 13,500 cartoons for the newspaper Asahi Shimbun.
