Pixelio

Pixelio.de is an image database that in December 2012 comprised over 448,000 images in 236 categories downloaded 13.9 million times by January 2011.

Users must first register and log in before uploading or uploading photos. The search in the hierarchically arranged categories can be done anonymously.

The images uploaded to the server are unlocked by administrators when the resolution is approximately 2 million pixels (at least 1000 pixel page length) and the quality meets pixelio's requirements. Also, the creative must fit into an image database.

The use of the pictures is permissible according to the stipulated licensing conditions for "editorial" purposes and is not generally free of charge, in case of an image use must be pointed out to Pixelio and the photographers. Changes to the images beyond typical image processing are not permitted. Use in image catalogs or merchandising is also excluded.

Meanwhile, Pixelio has developed a lively community of active photographers who evaluate and discuss the photos.
