Lymphogenic metastasis
Lymph node metastasis is the spread of the secondary tumors (metastases) of a tumor through the laxative lymph vessels into regional and remote lymph nodes.
An important role in breast cancer is played by the so-called sentinel lymph nodes (sentinel lymph nodes), into which the metastases are transported first along the physiological path. In the case of lung cancer, the mediastinal lymph nodes are particularly affected, while in the case of colorectal cancer frequently adjacent lymph nodes are affected. By examining these and nearby lymph nodes, a. find out how far the metastasization has already advanced.
