Héctor Guerrero Córdova entered the religious order of the Salesians of Don Bosco and received the sacrament of priestly ordination on 28 December 1968.

On March 3, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him for pre-mixing of mixes. The archbishop of Antequera, José Luis Chávez Botello, gave him bishops' ordination on 28th April; Co-conspirators were the deputy bishop of Guadalajara, Miguel Romano Gomez, and the bishop of Veracruz, Luis Felipe Gallardo Martín del Campo SDB.
