Church of God

In the German-speaking world, there are several free churches with the name of the Church of God or Church of God, which is usually a translation of the English Church of God:

The term "church of God" comes from the Bible and denotes the totality of those who believe in Christ or their gathering on the spot. In the New Testament, the Greek word ekklesia refers to the assembly called out of the people and is translated into Catholic translations with the church, Luther and Zwingli with the church, and in the Elberfeld Bible with the congregation or congregation. The English language uses Church for church and community without distinction.

As a denomination, Church of God was used in America in the 19th century for several newly founded denominations, first by John Winnebrenner for the General Eldership of the Church of God in North America (later The Church of God (Anderson). Since these groups had different embossings and backgrounds, they had to be provided with a supplement in order to distinguish them. At the same time, Church of Christ (Church of Christ) was often chosen as denomination.
