Schleswig-Holstein Badminton Championships have been held since 1953. In the first years, they were the second highest championship level in badminton in Germany and were the direct qualification for the German championships. With the introduction of the North German badminton championships in the 1961/1962 season, the title bouts were lowered by one level.
