National Democratic Collection
The National Democratic Collection (Arabic: التجمع الوطني الديمقراطي at-Tadschammu'Al-Waṭanī ad-Dīmuqrāṭī, French Rassemblement National Démocratique, RND) is a political party in Algeria. It is led by the Prime Minister of the country, Ahmed Ouyahia, and is currently governed by a coalition with the National Liberation Front.
The National Collection for Democracy was founded on 21 February 1997. It held its second congress from 15 to 17 May 2003.
In the 2002 parliamentary elections, the National Democratic Collection received 9.5% of the votes and won 47 of the 380 seats in the National Assembly. This was a bitter defeat for the party, since it previously had 156 seats. In the parliamentary elections of 2007 the party received 10.3% of the votes and won again 61 of the 389 seats in Parliament.
The National Democratic Collection is loyal to the current President of Algeria, Abdelaziz Bouteflika. It is a coalition partner within an alliance of three parties, the so-called "Presidential Alliance", created in 2005, which also includes the former unitary party, the National Liberation Front, as well as the Hamas society approaching the Muslim Federation / p>
